Paul McCobb was one of the leading furniture designers in the US during the 1950's and 1960's, known for his simple functional pieces made from robust yet affordable materials such as iron and solid wood. One of the most popular lines of the time was the Planner Group. Back in the day you could buy a set of end tables for around $30, which is equal to about $250 dollars today. In 2019, with a vintage tag, we have seen them listed in some places for over $8,000! Today there are a few companies out there that are reviving the Paul McCobb lines. You can see these revivals on the websites of Karakter and Ralph Pucci. According to an article in the New York Times from May the sofa revival is expected to sell for around $20,500. Would you buy mid-century modern revivals or is it the vintage finds that are really in your heart? These are a few images of Paul McCobb Planner Group table, chairs and bookshelves that came through the store back in April.
